General Rules

1.
No consumption of alcoholic
beverages permitted in the track or pit areas. Anyone believed to be a
potential safety hazard will be barred from the pull. Failure to observe
rules will result in removal from the track or pit area with no refund of
entry fee. Driver is responsible for their pit crew. No pit crew member is
allowed on the track except to start or hook up pulling vehicle. No
competitor may smoke while hooked to the sled.
2. All
contestants must be at least 12 old with written parental/guardian consent
through the age of 16.
3. Judges
have the right to reweigh any vehicle or re-measure hitches. Tractor RPM
may be rechecked anytime before or after the pull.
4. The tires
of any pulling vehicle must remain within the boundaries of the contest
course.
5. A 250’
track with a 50’ decision cone will be in place for the pulling contest.
Decision cone in place for identifying purposes, driver may stop before
this cone to change gears, change placement of weight etc. Only one
restart per hook. A restart is permitted in a pull off.
6. Driver
must remain seated and have control of the pulling vehicle at all times.
7. The
pulling vehicle must be stopped immediately on signal from the track
judge. Pull is considered over when forward motion of the load stops, no
hole digging.
8. All
pulling vehicles must be in park or neutral while being hooked and
unhooked.
9. The first
puller in each class is the test puller. He/she may take the pull if the
weight transfer sled is set properly or may choose to drop and immediately
take his second hook or come back in third position. He may choose to drop
to the end of the class only if mechanical failure or overheating occurs
and deemed necessary by track judge.
10. Each
contestant may spot the sled for his first hook in each class. Contestants
must notify track judge before the sled is returned to the starting line.
Track judges have the final decision on all matters.
11.
All contestants must pull in
position drawn and be hooked to the sled within three minutes of officials
signal or will be disqualified. Track judges must be notified of any
delay, and may be placed as the last puller of that class.
12.
All pulls must start with a tight
hitch.
No Jerking!!!
13.
Violation of any rule results in
automatic disqualification. Track judges reserve the right to stop and
disqualify any vehicle not operating in a safe manner.
14. Any
driver arguing with a track judge is subject to immediate
disqualification. All decisions of track judge will be final at each pull.
Any protests will be settled and next club meeting.
15. If two
people drive the same tractor per class, they will both receive points for
their pull but only one trophy will be awarded to the tractor.
16. No
pre-registration. Vehicle must be on grounds to be registered.
17. No other
entries will be taken after the class has started or if ½ the class has
pulled upon track judge’s approval.
18. Weighing
procedures; the official weight of a competitor’s vehicle shall be defined
as being the weight of the vehicle which must include the driver ready for
competition. No adding of weight without being re-weighed. Weigh out after
the hook will be at the discretion of the track judge. No hitching device
or any part of the pulling vehicle may interfere with the sled while
pulling or being hooked or unhooked from the sled.
19. All
weights must be securely fastened to pulling vehicle. No weight may extend
more than 24” beyond the forward most point of hood or front tires. No
weight permitted on the seat or deck. No rear weights to extend past the
farthest most part of the rear tire. If any part or weight falls off the
pulling vehicle while hooked to the sled leads to disqualification.
Amended Feb 13, 1998 and re-amended back in Aug 27, 2006
- No rear weights to extended more than 6 inches past the furthest
most part of the rear tractor. If any part of the tractor falls off
while hooked to the sled leads to disqualification.
20. No
riders in or on any vehicle while in the pit area or on the track to
include tow vehicles. When the pulling vehicle engine is running the
driver must be in the driver seat,
NO
EXCEPTIONS!!!
21. All
vehicles will be subject to a safety inspection for general or class
rules.
22. All
pulling vehicles must be equipped or have easy access to a minimum of one
2 ½ pound dry chemical or minimum 2 pound halon type fire extinguisher
fully charged and in working condition and convenient to the driver. The
sled must be equipped with a fire extinguisher.
Amended Aug 27, 06 Meeting: Fire extinguisher recommended but
not mandatory except for the open class.
23. All
pulling vehicles must be able to drive on the track and hook onto the sled
on the starting line under its own power.
24. All
engine driven fans must be shrouded with a factory installed shroud or
made of a minimum of 1/16” steel.
25. No
pressurized fuel allowed unless UL approved pressure tanks. No oxygen or
nitrous oxide or secondary fuel systems of any kind.
26. Any
conduct reflecting poorly on the reputation and integrity of
the Hilltop Antique Tractors Pullers Association
will cause suspension of puller and vehicle for the remainder of the year
and one day.
27. The
Board of Directors reserves the right to make final decisions concerning
the legality and safety of any entry.
28.
Rain-out; the pulling session can be called complete if ½ of advertised
classes are completed. We reserve the right to reschedule.
29. Minimum
drawbar length is 18’ from the center of rear axle to point of hookup.
Drawbar must be stationary in all directions. Maximum height is 18” from
top of hitching devise parallel to the ground (except for the Antique Open
Class). Any vertical clevis will be measured to center of the loop.
Wheelie Bars
Recommended but not Mandatory
(except in Antique Open Division).
30. Drawbar
must be equipped with a steel hitching devise with thickness no less than
1” square or 1 1/8” round stock and no more than 1 ½” thick square or
round stock. A minimum 3” and maximum 3 ½” diameter hole is required. A
cross sectional thickness of 1 square inch minimum must be maintained at
any given point of the hitching loop. No bracing above center of rear axle
except for complete factory set-up. If above center, it must be cradled
(based upon judge’s decision).
31. All
tractors must have working governor in operation.
32. Tractor
motor and chassis must conform with each other and must be O.E.M.
33. All
tractors must be equipped with workable rear brakes. Use of torque
converters, automatics shifts, etc. is permitted.
34. No foot
cross over and no hand control of footbrakes permitted.
35. No four
wheel drive and no tire chains.
36. Contest
open only to the following makes and models; the exception being only to a
lesser known make of tractor being manufactured during the same time
period or older.

37. Beginning of pulling season,
you must determine if you want to compete in the
Antique First Gear,
Antique Any Gear,
Farm
or the
Antique Open class. Once
determined, you may not change or jump classes throughout the season. You
must stay in the class you registered in, for the entire pulling season.
38. All tractors in
Antique First Gear,
Antique Any Gear,
Farm
and
Antique Open classes must
be naturally aspirated.
39. All rules will be
interpreted by the Board of Directors. Any unforeseen problems or
oversights will be based on the Board of Directors decision on that issue,
with their rulings being final.
40.
Any puller registering a
complaint against a fellow puller, or a pullers tractor, or equipment,
must be a Hilltop Member in good standing at the time of complaint, and
must be in the same pulling class/division, and notify a Hilltop Official
(B.O.D.) or Officers of the complain the same day, before the pull is over
and before you leave the grounds. Once the pull is officially over
for the day in question no complaints or problems will be heard on the
matter.
Antique First Gear Class
1 Tractors
must pull in

Bars that can support the weight of the tractor with weights and have a
minimum 25 sq. inch pad, no more than 10” above the ground and extend
beyond the radius of the tire is mandatory.

systems of any type including rev limiters may be used.

Carburetors of any design must mount in original location but an adaptor
plate of no more than 1” thick may be used.
10 Engine
block, cylinder heads and manifolds must be OEM or any manufactures
replacement of original or designed for pulling.
11 Engine
RPM will be 3000 RPM maximum. Any engine running over 2500 RPM must have a
scatter Blanket and Side-Shields of at least 1/16” steel or 1/8 aluminum
and extend from the frame or center of the crank to the top of the
Cylinder Block and be the entire length of the Block.
12 Fuel,
Gas, Diesel or LP fuels only. No alcohol or nitrous oxide fuels
allowed.
13 All
rules will be interpreted by the Board of Directors. Any unforeseen
problems or oversights will be based on the Board of Directors decision on
that issue, with their rulings being final.
14 A dead man throttle is
mandatory!
Antique Double Tree
(Non-points)
Weight classes; 4500 and 6500
All general rules apply
The double
tree will follow the Open Class in each class respectfully
Classes will be based on the Antique Any Gear Class. All rules apply.
There will be a
flagman on duty; flagmen will be President, Vice-President or a member of
the Board of Directors.
Hook fee will
be the same price as the regular classes for
each
tractor or two times the price of the regular classes for the Team. Each
participant may pull two times in each Double Tree class per day.
